1875-S BF-9

Obverse 6

This die has what is believed to be a die chip in the denticles rather than a misplaced date digit.

Die chip in the denticles

In a very late die state, a piece of this obverse die breaks away at the rim resulting in a rim cud.

Date Position: M 2.5, 0.55 mm

Reverse F

This die has a clear S positioned very high, and most minor repunching, barely visible in upper-right corner only.

High clear mintmark, minor S/S

Early on, the reverse develops die cracks, later becoming more extensive.

Late die state with advanced cracks

Comments: This is the second and final use of this obverse die, and the first appearance of this reverse die.

Scarcity: A fairly easy die marriage to locate. The late die state with the obverse rim cud is rare. Rarity rating: R-2.
