1875-S BF-8

Obverse 6

This die has what is believed to be a die chip in the denticles rather than a misplaced date digit.

Date Position: M 2.5, 0.55 mm

Reverse E

One of the easiest reverses to attribute, this die features an obvious knob on the R in AMERICA.

With this die pairing, this reverse also extends its preexisting die cracks (from its earlier use in BF-7) to create a series of die cracks during its remaining production run that practically reach around the entire coin.

See also enhanced die crack diagram next page for more complete details.

Comments: One of the easier die marriages to attribute as both sides of the coin can be readily identified. This represents the first use of this obverse die and the second and final use of this reverse die.

Scarcity: This die marriage has proven to be very difficult to find. Rarity Rating: R-5.
