Obverse 7

This obverse die features an easily seen misplaced 8 positioned low within the denticles below the date.



Misplaced 8 low in denticles

The rounded top of the misplaced 8 spans several denticles as compared with a misplaced 1 which would appear as a short flat line. Note how the misplaced digit curves down at the sides as it approaches the rim. The left curve downward begins just to the left of the middle denticle.

Date Position: M 3.5, 0.55 mm

Reverse G

This reverse die features a fairly high, left-placed, partially to fully filled S mintmark. The degree of filling can vary depending on the strike and the amount of wear. There is also a prominent vertical die line above the left part of the arrow’s feather.

Comments: This is the only use of this obverse die and the first use of the reverse die.

Scarcity: A tough die marriage to locate. Rarity rating: R-3.
